Free items: water or a cup given at no charge

Mark the item free on the menu itself, and set its value on the invoice by hand or from its purchase price in the inventory.

A glass of water with every order? An extra cup? Mark the item free on the menu itself, and the cashier gives it at no charge. The invoice stays right with ZATCA: the item shows at its price with a 100% discount.

  1. On the web: «القائمة والصفحة» (Menu & page), then «الأطباق» (Dishes), and open the dish. (Web)
  2. In the Aloke Owners app, open «Menu & page» from «Every section» on the home screen, then «Items». (iPhone and iPad, Android)
  3. In the app open the item, and go down to «للاستخدام الداخلي فقط» (Internal use only). (iPhone and iPad, Android)
  4. Under it, from «صنف مجاني» (Free item) choose «مجاني مع طلب مدفوع فقط» (Free, only with a paid item) or «مجاني، ولو لوحده» (Free, even on its own).
«Free item» under «Internal use only»: choose when it is free, and its value on the invoice.

Its value on the invoice

The invoice needs a value for the item. You have three ways, and the system takes them in this order:

Value it at its purchase price in the inventory
Switch it on and the value is its average purchase cost at the branch, when the item is linked to a stock item or recipe under «الأصناف» at the till.
Its value on the invoice
Type the value yourself. It is used when there is no purchase cost yet, or when the inventory switch is off.
Its menu price
With no purchase cost and no typed value, the value is its menu price.
We did not deduct its purchase VAT
Tick it if you never reclaimed the input VAT on buying this item. Giving it away is then not a deemed supply. Keep the proof.

ZATCA

A free item beside a paid order is a discount on the sale, with no VAT. On its own it is a gift, until it passes 200 riyals for one customer in a year or 50,000 riyals for the business in a year. After that the system issues a deemed supply invoice with its VAT, by itself.
